Moving Essentials I'm so glad I had!
I was so excited about moving. I’d been pinning ALL the room inspo on Pinterest and spending more time in HomeGoods. But as the move got really close, I started to worry about the necessities, and began asking friends and family what I should have on hand and what’s easily forgotten? So here’s my list off all the items I’m so glad I had for the first week!
Paper Towels Toilet Paper, & Trash Bags- These can be easily overlooked. If you’d like to save space in your car, or you’re flying to your new home, I recommend ordering these online for delivery. I chose Amazon Prime because that 2-day shipping made things so simple.
Basket of Cleaning Supplies- This comes down to what you prefer to use, but I grabbed a large plastic basket from the Dollar Tree and started collecting things about a month before. I got quite a few of the cleaners, brushes and cloths from Dollar Tree as well. This was my favorite thing to have, as a basket is always useful, and I wanted/needed to give the house a good cleaning before anything else.
First Aid Kit- Let’s hope you don’t need it, but better safe than sorry. We bought one of the kits already assembled, and with moving already being stressful, it’s nice to just have one ready to go. We also keep a Hydrogen Peroxide in the fridge to clean out any cuts and such, but the kits usually include alcohol wipes.
Pens, Sharpie, Tape, notepad, scissors & batteries- Basically the random items you’d find in your junk drawer. It never fails that you can’t find a pen or marker when you need one! These are small items and can fit together in a small box in the car. I’d probably throw in a Tide Pen as well, because I keep them everywhere. Rather than standard scissors, my mom had gotten each of us a pair of these, and they are amazing! Stronger than traditional scissors and they cut plastic packaging like a dream!
Basic Tool Kit- This was so much more useful than I’d even imagined. I had asked for one a few holidays ago and It’s the best gift. The best part is having a hammer, level, and even Electrical Tape all in one spot.
Drinks & Snacks- I love my reusable water bottle, but the new house doesn’t have a water machine. I made sure that waters & snacks were in the house day one. This way I could focus on cleaning and getting everything in order, rather than tracking down snacks and drinks. This is another one that can be ordered on Amazon to arrive the day you do.
I hope you find this list useful-it was a huge lifesaver for me! What must-haves could you not have lived without!?
